ABOUT CASSIE

I am the proud mother of 2 adult sons who have now moved on to their next stage of their lives and have built their new home together. I raised Kieran and Tyler as a single parent, whilst working full time as a Hairdresser and this is where I discovered FDC as an alternative to Long Day Care.

During their teen years I slowly steered away from my Hairdressing career and into the arms of a wonderful Long Day Care centre in Busselton. There I was encouraged to grow as an Educator for 3 years. I achieved my Diploma in Children’s Services and developed my love for Educating Children. My desire to support their families in shared decision making was paramount as I too was aware of the struggles families endure as working parents.

Maria Montessori is an Educational Theorist, whose work I admire and put into practice within my centre. She taught us that ‘Children learn through play’. Putting Maria’s theories into practice I provide an environment to stimulate curiosity in a safe, fair and ethical environment, enhancing children’s learning and sense of agency. I aim to role model quality practices and to work in collaboration with other Educators, and members of the wider community; blossoming children’s learning, development and holistic wellbeing whilst acting in the best interests of each individual child.

My husband Tim and I have been regularly following sustainable, healthy eating options which has helped make our decision to become vegetarian. Using mainly plant based ingredients is now also incorporated into the children’s menu plans.

This is a proud and extremely satisfying profession. One that I am sure with ongoing personal development I can progress my skills to become a lifelong Early Years Educator, forming bonds with many generations to come.
