Welcome to Protea Family Day Care – where every child blooms in their own way.

Protea flowers come in many colors, textures, shapes, and sizes, symbolising diversity and resilience. Inspired by this, Protea Family Day Care celebrates the uniqueness of each child in a nurturing and harmonious environment.

My name is Seonggyeong Sylvia Chae, and I am the operator of Protea Family Day Care. Since opening in November 2022, I’ve had the joy of welcoming wonderful children and families into our home-based service.

Originally from South Korea, I now live in Busselton with my husband Ryan and our joyful son Leonardo, who is now five years old. I hold a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care and a Bachelor of Theology. Since arriving in Australia in 2013, I’ve worked as a room leader in a childcare centre in Perth for three years and as an OSHC coordinator in Busselton for another three. My passion for working with children has also taken me around the world as a child and youth minister, including leading international camps in the USA, Vietnam, and South Korea.

At Protea FDC, we see each child as a capable and curious individual with the potential to grow, learn, and contribute meaningfully. We provide a warm, safe, and engaging home-like environment, rich with opportunities for child-led exploration and play. Our service values nature, creativity, and cultural diversity, and we intentionally embed these values in our everyday practice.

We follow the National Regulations, National Quality Standards, and use the Early Years Learning Framework – Being, Belonging, Becoming – to guide our curriculum and planning.

Located directly across from a park, Protea Family Day Care offers plenty of opportunities to explore our local community, including regular park visits, nature walks, and arranged play dates with other local FDCs.

Our service now operates on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 7:30am to 5:30pm.

We aim to build lasting relationships with families based on trust, respect, and open communication.
