Cowie Kids is a place where your child will feel safe, seen, and supported. It’s a space built on trust, connection, and a genuine love for learning in all its forms.

You’ll find that our days are filled with creativity, fun, and discovery. Whether we’re making music, digging in the garden, or sharing a story, every moment is an opportunity to grow and connect.

My name is Emily, and I’m a registered Early Childhood Teacher. Starting my teaching career as Music Teacher (k-12) I quickly realised I was more captivated by the youngest minds. This was all made apparent again as I raised my precious little girls, now aged 5 and 7.

At the age of 17, I started teaching. My first job was teaching children piano aged 2 and above, while I was studying at university.

After 8 years as a teacher, I decided to take a career turn into early childhood, so I took a position as an Educator at a daycare centre in Canberra, while I studied. Soon after, I was offered a position as an Early Childhood Teacher and Lead Educator for the 2-3 year old room, then the 4-5 year old Kindy class.

All of these experiences have been invaluable in shaping me to be the Teacher I am today. But also, far from the least important aspect of my experience is raising my own children. We are a loving, caring and happy family. Cowie Kids FDC is a family business; every member of our family will become a part of your family.

We hope for you to feel a sense that our home will be a ‘home away from home’ for your children. A safe place, to play, learn and create happy memories.

Learning through play:
Sustainability, music, nurture and nature are core to our everyday routines. Children will be offered many invitations for play throughout the day, so they can explore and be the driver of their own learning experiences. Music is a major part of our daily experience; the children will be offered the beginnings of piano lessons and the fundamental elements of music, no matter what their age. By embracing each child’s individuality and encouraging their voice, I aim to nurture confident, compassionate, and curious learners, ready to step into the world as their whole, authentic selves, and as responsible citizens of the earth.

My philosophy in a nutshell:
At Cowie Kids Family Day Care, I believe that every child has a unique learning “fingerprint”; their own way of seeing, thinking, and connecting with the world. Inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, my approach celebrates each child as capable, curious, and full of potential.
