Welcome to Woodlands Family Day Care
My name is Kate and I am an Early Childhood Educator with over 15 years of experience. I have worked in school settings, early childhood settings and Family Day Care and bring a wealth of knowledge to my service. I have two daughters and a fabulous partner. I love all things nature and being outside and look forward to learning about your family as we get to know each other.

Philosophy and Beliefs
At Woodlands Family Day Care, I believe in creating an inclusive, secure and supportive environment that welcomes families. My aim is to build strong relationships with families so that you can feel confident that your child is in the best possible care.

We are lucky to be positioned in such a beautiful rural setting and as such we love to connect with nature and weave sustainability into our everyday. This might look like collecting rainwater for the garden, feeding our scraps to the chickens or picking something to eat from the garden. Many of our learning resources are sourced from nature or recycled. I love getting out and about into the nature and getting involved in the community which allows children to learn about diversity and have a strong sense of being connected to their world.

I strongly believe in educating and caring for children’s development holistically. Children’s opinions, ideas and choice throughout the day will always be encouraged and respected. Their ideas and suggestions will be reflected and incorporated into the learning environment.

My inspiration comes from both Steiner and Reggio Emilia philosophies, both of which emphasise creativity, curiosity and wonder. At Woodlands Family Daycare children are encouraged to be active participants in their learning, get messy and explore all kinds of creativity with as much time as possible, in a fun and unhurried environment. I respect each child’s learning pace and interests and will offer intentional input to ensure they feel supported as they grow and learn.
