Welcome to Protea Family Day Care

 Where every child blooms in their own way.

Protea flowers come in many colours, textures, shapes and sizes, symbolising diversity and resilience. Inspired by this, Protea Family Day Care celebrates the uniqueness of every child within a nurturing, inclusive and harmonious environment.

My name is Seonggyeong Sylvia Chae, and I am the Educator and Operator of Protea Family Day Care. Since opening in November 2022, I have had the privilege of welcoming many wonderful children and families into our home-based service.

Originally from South Korea, I now live in Busselton with my family. I hold a Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care and a Bachelor of Theology.

Since arriving in Australia in 2013, I have worked as a Room Leader in a childcare centre in Perth for three years and as an Outside School Hours Care Coordinator in Busselton for a further three years. My passion for supporting children has also taken me overseas as a child and youth minister, including leading international camps in the United States, Vietnam and South Korea.

At Protea Family Day Care, we view every child as capable, curious and full of potential. We provide a warm, safe and engaging home-like environment where children are encouraged to explore, create, build relationships and learn through play. 

Our program values nature, creativity, cultural diversity and meaningful community connections. These values are intentionally embedded throughout our daily routines, experiences and interactions. 

Our curriculum and planning are guided by the Early Years Learning Framework, Belonging, Being and Becoming, as well as the National Quality Standard and relevant Education and Care Services National Regulations. 

Located directly across from a local park, Protea Family Day Care provides children with regular opportunities to engage with their community through park visits and arranged playdates with other local family day care services. 

Protea Family Day Care operates Monday to Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm. 

We aim to build lasting partnerships with families through trust, respect, open communication and a shared commitment to each child’s wellbeing and development.
